There it goes, another year in the rearview mirror, and here we are, two months into the new year. Have you started on those resolutions? If so, great! If not, why? Many of us succumb to those unwanted interruptions, letting time slip by. This post hopefully addresses just that. How to overcome distractions so you can get your mojo back. So, how do we prevent the negative distractions from becoming the focal point? Let’s see.
Are you stuck in a perpetual pattern of waiting for things to change? Do you find you’re dealing with the same things repeatedly, struggling with the same situations, grappling with the same scenarios? Are you putting up with individuals who continue to be nothing but negative distractions? Answer yes, and it’s reasonable to say you’ve not only conceded to the distraction, but trapped yourself in limbo by doing so.
Certain things in life are cyclical. However, when repetitive patterns of disturbances bring about a state of mixed emotions within the context of a connection or situation, it becomes problematic. This can lead to a state of uncertainty and confusion. It could very well be in a workplace, in a social circle, in a love story, or in a familial setting. We can refer to some of these distractions as time suckers because that’s what they are. As they can take an emotional toll by consuming one’s thoughts, that in affect, effects the availability of time we have to achieve the more important things in life.
Where your attention goes, your time goes.
THE EMOTIONAL TANGO
If you find yourself caught up in some emotional tango, it’s time to get to the nitty-gritty and address why. This is when a relationship, a friendship, or a workplace fails us. It’s here, we do nothing but complain. We complain about the boss, a friend, our partner, or any situation that we deem a burden. And it doesn’t get better from here, it actually get’s worse. Perhaps we’re more inclined to stay in something inferior rather than remove ourselves from the picture and head toward something promising. Especially when we know what we know and in knowing, we realize something’s gotta give.
The thing is, if we keep it as is, it’s here, I believe, we’ve already lost touch with the harsh reality. Ask yourself why you choose to hold on to something unsustainable? This post will hopefully serve as a reminder that you deserve better. Who you are, where you’re at, the stuff you’re going through, and where this life of yours is heading is what matters most. But that’s just this blogger’s opinion.
The ability to concentrate and to use your time well is everything if you want to succeed in business – or almost anywhere else for that matter.
GETTING YOUR MOJO BACK
Motivation is really a biggie. It’s that little shove that comes with an energetic shift. It’s being in alignment with a sense of purpose and direction. It encourages us to be more attentive and committed to what we love and aware of what we don’t. What we love, we intentionally move to the forefront of our lives. It tops our list and becomes the priority. It’s in this space that we tap into our mojo. And as we know, it’s all about the confidence factor.
Here are a few steps to getting back on track:
Know your why.
Ask yourself what you can do to change your circumstances.
Focus on the positives not the negatives.
Prioritize self-love and self-confidence.
Learn from every experience, especially the negative ones.
Refuse to settle where it’s unsettling.
Step away and take a time-out from the matter in question.
Find ways to reignite the spark of creativity.
If you are focused and committed to changing something for the better, this leads to positive outcomes. It’s a deliberate approach to putting the important things back in the spotlight. A relatively calculated stance to bringing something undesirable to completion by closing it out once and for all. It’s a time for personal boundaries, so we can prioritize the right things, which enables us to reach those lofty goals.
HOW DO WE OVERCOME THE DISTRACTIONS WHEN INUNDATED WITH NEGATIVITY?
Your life is controlled by what you focus on.
Completions of any kind usually usher in new beginnings. By preventing endings from happening, things stay the same. There’s a satisfaction in achieving what we had set out to do, even if something didn’t turn out quite the way we expected. Listen up. No one enjoys negative encounters, nor the drama that comes with it. Yet, when unpleasantries occur, the tendency is to focus more on the negative aspects. This is where we refrain from taking positive action because we’re inundated with negative thoughts that deplete our energy. So there’s that to consider.
The thing is, we’re here to learn and grow. To live in harmony, calmly striving to be our very best and happy doing so. The fact of the matter is: a bad situation doesn’t usher in harmony, rather it gives rise to disharmony. Big difference. We have to face the facts. The friend wasn’t really a friend, the match was a mismatch, and the workplace wasn’t a fit. There you have it. Not the best picture, but it portrays and reveals something nonetheless.
RIGHT PATH, RIGHT DIRECTION
Just through the process of changing something, that in itself gives us the incentive to move on, to embark on a new journey in a different direction. Perhaps this is when we take on new endeavors, such as a new role, project, or job. Maybe we decide to move to a new city, get involved in new things, meet new people, attracting a better partner. It could even be where we delve into creativity and take on new hobbies, and develop new skills.
Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.
It’s a confidence booster whenever we set our intentions and are attentive to bringing something successful to the forefront. As with any completion, we can now prioritize what matters most. This is also where we reap rewards, celebrating our achievements, but this time on the right track, in the right direction, with the right people. Therefore, we have to be mindful of who we are, aware of where we are and who we’re with, as well as where this thing called life is going.
FOCUSED ON THE RIGHT THINGS HELPS TO OVERCOME DISTRACTIONS
But first things first, we understand that the choices we make along the way always determine the direction our lives will take. And depending on various factors, there will always be someone who will struggle with the notion of change. For others, it may be a lack of acceptance, refusing to accept the fact that something in their life is crappy. But they’re still adamant to keep things as is. In both cases, it’s about what we carry around with us. It could be any unsettling experience, a vivid memory, an unhappy thought, or an incessant feeling. Perhaps it’s everything plus. It could very well be just about anything that can tie up one’s life.
Maybe it’s something that demands attention. With that said, the thoughts we tuck away at the back of our minds are the ones that need to be addressed. This is usually something that bears weight, preventing us from focusing on what we need to better our lives. Even so, it’s time to view something from a new angle, to refocus and center attention on what could be rather than what was. To take a chance and try something new. This will shift one’s focus away from those things that aren’t working, toward what will. This is you on the road to awareness, on the threshold to freedom, believing and knowing you can fulfill those dreams.
By taking the required steps, you open yourself up to new experiences, better situations, thereby attracting healthier relationships. Which places you on track to transforming that life of yours. It begins with a thought, followed by little steps you can take each day until you get to where you want your life to be. It’s important to recognize when something is beyond repair.
